CEO of Airasia.com, Karen Chan, steps down

The CEO of Airasia.com, Karen Chan, announced today in an email she will be stepping down from the position as tomorrow marks her official last day leading the company on the quest too be ASEAN’s most-loved superapp.

”I would like to personally let you know that I’ll be leaving my position as CEO of Airasia.com,” Karen wrote in the email. “My last day is Tuesday, 18th May 2021 (and) I will be assuming a board role at Airasia.com and continue the quest to be ASEAN’s most-loved superapp. 

In the email, Karen also announced that Airasia.com’s current Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Amanda Woo, will replace her as CEO.

”(Karen) is a veteran of AirAsia having worked in multiple functions within the Group and has been overseeing the commercial and marketing operations of Airasia.com since inception,” Karen wrote. ”I humbly ask that you give Amanda the same support and commitment that you’ve given me.“ 

Karen was appointed as the CEO of Airasia.com in January last year after she spent 10 months with the company as the Group Chief Commercial Officer. Prior to joining Airasia.com, Karen lead regional digital marketing efforts at companies such as Clarks, Pizza Hut, Domino’s and Coca Cola.

In an interview with MARKETING Magazine last year, Karen opened up about Airasia.com’s big plans and how AirAsia Berhad has pivoted its company in the wake of a pandemic that has affected air travel globally.
