Let’s thank Rama for this

We cornered Ramakrishnan C.N. Partner at ENTROPIA today, and you’ll be glad we did. Read on…as he explains…

Over the last nine months, the entire advertising/marketing Services industry seems to have lost their mojo as their beloved PPT couldn’t cope with virtual meetings.

No amount of smooth-talking works over faceless boxes, lagging internet, echo, or the sound of renovations happening above. It is frustrating as none of the conference apps are designed for the specific needs of our industry, where face-to-face (F2F) presence and the necessity of showing video references and story-telling carry so much weight.

During the first few months, it was about getting used to the Work from Home (WFH) saga itself, and the next few months was juggling between F2F and virtual meetings, all with the hope that this phase will be over and we will be back to our standard in-person interactions soo

Getting into 2021 will almost be unprofessional to say one is not good at virtual calls or not being prepared for various eventualities during a virtual pitch.

The only way probably is to figure out an alternative route by changing the way we think. This thinking will lead you to another industry and a vast set of people that seem to have cracked this a long time ago – the Streamers.

Their needs are primarily similar to us in trying to engage their audience while not being present in-person. They amass tons of followers, and they don’t disappoint. They must be doing something that we can learn…

There are some basic things that matter, but one of the key differentiators is the use of Virtual Cameras for being present while highlighting your content.

Here is my first and humble attempt at researching and sharing some tips and tricks to enhance your presentations. I use various virtual camera software to shoot the entire presentation in one take over Zoom.

All the links to the tools used are given in the video description for your reference and further research that suits your particular use case. Still, a long way to go, but it is at least a start.

I don’t claim to know it all, so this video is neither exhaustive nor prescriptive. And it is based on what I know as of Dec 2020. This video is not meant to be a tutorial specifically, but it can probably give you all some ideas and places to look into. The rest is up to you.

This video is a recording on a Zoom call, so whatever you see on screen is being controlled by me while doing the presentation in real-time. If it helps you, please do share for the benefit of others. If you already are a champ of this, then great, and please ignore this.

RIP PowerPoint(1987-2020). Long live presentations (2020+) by thinking like a Streamer.
