AirAsia has announced two new virtual idols as part of its Project Kavvaii, an initiative launched last year by the company to develop Vtuber talent to engage with audiences. This follows the success of the project’s first virtual Idol, Aozora Kurumi, who has since racked up more than 22,000 subscribers and over 1.2 million views on YouTube with over 150 streams within a year.

Project Kavvaii’s Gen 2 will launch Airi Gwynevere and Mikazuki Mai, collectively known as Lunetide. Both were selected from the initiative’s open audition back in November, with Gwynevere making her YouTube debut earlier today while Mai will follow suit tomorrow evening.

AirAsia describes Airi Gwynevere as a lonely ancient witch and Mikazuki Mai as a clumsy young witch hunter with an isopod pet named Zuozuo. The narrative is that Mikazuki Mai finds the witch Airi Gwynevere trapped in a cellar and accidentally frees her, leading them to work together in a bar to earn a living.

While AirAsia did not reveal the actual talents behind these virtual idols, it did mention that they were brought to life by several artists including Nana, Hen, Ran, and Veiny. The company also said that the talents will receive a contract alongside access to a support team as well as related streaming tools.

They will also be provided with the opportunities to work with other members of the AirAsia family in order to help build and shape their characters. In case you are curious enough to check out these virtual idols in action, you can catch the streams on Gwynevere’s and Mai’s respective YouTube channels or head on to Project Kavvaii’s official website right here for more information.
