Alleged AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS Benchmarks Results Leak

The Cinebench R23 benchmark results, allegedly belonging to AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840HS mobile CPU, have made their way online. The results were reportedly put up online via the Chinese video site, BiliBili.

It should be noted that the screenshot of the Cinebench R23 benchmark only shows the multi-core benchmarks, of which the Radeon 780M RDNA3-integrated processor scored a whopping 16854 points. As a quick primer on its specs, the mobile CPU is an 8-cores, 16-threads processor, with a base and boost clock of 3.8GHz and 5GHz, respectively.

Oddly enough, the single-core score of the 7840HS has been blotted out, but based on the CPU’s performance ratio, that puts its somewhere around the 1600 points average. However, the leaker claims that the single-core score obtained in this sample was incorrect, thus explaining why they had blanked it out in the first place. As to how much of an improvement the CPU is, we’re looking at about 26% faster processing speeds over the Ryzen 7 6800H.

For another matter, the 7840HS is one of the first AMD Ryzen processors to feature both Zen4 and RDNA3 architecture, all on the same silicon. On top of that, and because it is an HS-Seires processor, it is expected to operate with a base TDP between 35W and 45W, depending on the workload it is running at the time. As another point of reference, the chipmaker’s higher-end HX-Series SKUs are designed to have TDPs upwards of 55W.

As for who the 7840HS is supposed to compete with, AMD is expecting it to go up against Intel’s 12th-generation Core i9-12900H, but surprisingly not against the newer 13th-generation Core Series mobile CPUs, such as the 13900H that was announced at the start of the year during CES 2023.

AMD is set to launch the Ryzen 7 7840HS, as well as the rest of the HS-Series mobile CPU lineup next month.
