Fitness wearable specialist Amazfit has announced via a post on Facebook that its upcoming smartwatch, the GTR Mini, will be debuting in Malaysia next week. Apart from revealing its date of launch, no further details regarding the device have been provided just yet – at least officially.

According to a leak that’s first reported by GSMArena in late January, the newer model is not exactly a stripped down version of the Amazfit GTR 4. Featuring a completely different design than last year’s model, it can actually be considered as a standalone entry in the series.

As seen in the images provided by the publication, the GTR Mini sports rounded design for its casing and button, which makes it look more like a luxury smartwatch rather than sports-centric. It is also revealed that the wearable is offered in either metal or gold colours, along with navy, pink or black straps.

Housed within the stainless steel case is said to be a 1.28-inch 2.5D AMOLED touchscreen display, while on the back are sensors that are capable of tracking 24-hour heart rate, Sp02, and stress. Features-wise, GSMArena claims that the GTR Mini will come with Amazfit’s Zepp OS, numerous health and fitness monitoring capabilities, and also over 120 sports modes with activity recognition. Naturally, expect typical smart functions such as remote calling, notifications and others to be included as well.

Additionally, it will feature Bluetooth 5.1 LE (Low Energy) wireless connectivity, an onboard GNSS receiver with GPS, QZSS, BEIDOU and GALILEO support, as well as compatibility with devices running Android 7.0 or iOS 12 and above. For battery, the upcoming smartwatch is said to come with a capacity of 500 mAh, though no usage expectancy was specified.

Of course, all of these are unofficial, so there’s a chance that the information given may end up being inaccurate in the end. That being said, we’ll only find out whether this is the case next week once the new Amazfit GTR Mini launches in Malaysia on 17 March 2023.
