Buying things from Amazon in Malaysia can be simply described as either tricky or pricey. This is simply due to the company not having an official presence in the country. That being said, the company has been operating in Singapore since 2017, as well as being able to have prices be displayed in RM. Now, it looks like the company is offering free shipping for eligible items to Malaysia.

As described on the FAQ page, International Free Delivery to Malaysia is available for select products when you have a total value of SG$40 (~RM129) or more. It’s important to stress that only eligible items apply, and these will be marked with a “FREE Delivery” label on their respective item pages. You’re not restricted to having one item meet or exceed the threshold either; you can have multiple items in your cart, as long as they are all eligible items and their total adds up to SG$40 or more. This free shipping is also automatically applied at checkout, marked as “FREE International Standard Delivery”.

It’s also worth mentioning that this free shipping deal looks to be a limited time thing, with different items showing a different time window. From a quick search, it looks like products from the same seller will also have the same free shipping window, but beyond that, the reason for this is unclear. It’s also unclear if Amazon Singapore will bring these free shipping offers back in the future once they expire this time around.

At any rate, this presents an additional option for when you want to do a bit of online shopping. Though for the most part, this should only be the option you consider if you’re looking for something that’s not available locally. For items that are, you’ll more than likely find more affordable alternatives elsewhere, even after taking shipping costs into account.
