AMD Radeon RX 7900 Series Retailing Locally From RM4699

AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 Series graphics cards are now officially available, as are the reviews, but the one detail that we’ve still not received about the cards is local pricing. That is, up until now.

After reaching out to AMD Malaysia, the brand was able to share the local starting SRP for the RX 7900 Series. For the 7900 XT, its starting price is RM4599, while the XTX will start from RM5199. As usual, AMD is leaving the decision of following the base SRPs to its AIB partners and distributors, but as a rule of thumb, it would be prudent to assume that one or two brands will sell their cards at cost.

On another note, it should be mentioned that not all of AMD’s AIB partners will be selling the RX 7900 Series cards in the reference cooler design. In fact, we were informed that only three brands would be doing so: Gigabyte, PowerColor, and Sapphire. As for the other brands, customers can expect their variations of the XT and XTX to be sold with their own custom-cooling solutions.

To quickly recap, the Radeon RX 7900 Series was officially announced back in November, with the card being made globally available starting yesterday. The series comprises two graphics card, the 7900 XTX and XT, the former being the top-tier version of the series. In terms of their power AMD has said outright that both cards are meant to be on par with NVIDIA’s 2nd most powerful Ada Lovelace card, the GeForce RTX 4080. Specs-wise, the XTX comes with 24GB GDDR6, while the XT has 20GB, but both are based on the same RDNA3 GPU architecture.

In our review, we found that the RX 7900 XTX certainly showed that it is indeed as powerful as AMD promised, with a better performance-per-watt over its direct rival. That being said, the card isn’t without its set of flaw, one such drawback being that it couldn’t run certain titles optimally, and looks like the CPU and GPU maker may have to release a fix for said issues.
