ALOR SETAR : A temporary relief centre that was opened following the flash flood at Baling on Tuesday (Sept 6) has been closed at 7pm on Thursday (Sept 8).

Baling district Civil Defence Force (APM) officer Lt (PA) Mohd Faizol Ab. Aziz said as of 8.30pm on Sept 8, only one PPS at Dewan Kampung Padang Empang was still sheltering flood evacuees.

“The victims who was taking shelter at PPS Dewan Masjid Al Huda Kampung Hangus has been allowed to return home,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Mohd Faizol said PPS at Dewan Kampung Padang Empang was still open with 94 victims from 30 families still taking shelter.

Recently the floods and water surge phenomenon has affected 12 villages in Baling including Kampung Iboi and Kampung Masjid Iboi.

In the incident three people died including a pregnant women with thousands displaced in the aftermath of the tragedy.
