JAKARTA: There were 46 more COVID-19 deaths in Indonesia in the last 24 hours, which is the highest number of fatalities in a day due to the novel coranavirus since the first reported on March 11.

Achmad Yurianto, the Government spokesman on the COVID-19 situation in the republic, said with the latest fatalities, the death toll now stood at 359.

Thirty-six of the 46 deaths happened in Jakarta."From noon yesterday to noon today, 399 new cases were reported, bringing cumulative cases to 4,341," he said at his daily briefing here.

Jakarta has recorded the highest number of deaths at 195 , followed by Central Java (43 ), East Java (27) and the rest in other Indonesian provinces.
