“Typically, when political parties meet, of course the discussions will involve politics.

“(On seat allocations), we have already completed some of the process, but it is still ongoing.

“When the time comes, we will finalise it. But there are no issues with it so far,” said Dr Wee to reporters when met after the meeting which was held at Umno’s headquarters in Menara Dato Onn here.

When asked if the party leadership had discussed the GE15 date, he said the decision will be left to Umno’s “Top 5”.

“This is for the ‘Top 5’ to decide. For us, we are ever-ready if the elections were to be called,” said the MCA president.

The “Top 5” refers to Umno’s top five leaders – president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and vice-presidents Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin.

Barisan comprises four component parties – Umno, MCA, MIC and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS).

All the main leaders of the four parties were present at the meeting, including Ahmad Zahid, Ismail Sabri, MIC president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran and PBRS deputy president Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup.
