Fans give Billie Eilish thumbs-up for shopping at Sungei Wang Plaza

PETALING JAYA: The sight of Grammy-winning artiste Billie Eilish shopping at the Sungai Wang Plaza has sent fans and Internet users into a frenzy for her down-to-earth demeanour.

According to Malay-language portal mStar.com.my, many who have seen videos shared on social media of the singer shopping at the mall complimented her, as most international stars usually visit more popular malls such as the Suria KLCC, Pavilion or Star Hill Gallery.

Videos of fans bumping into Eilish were widely shared on social media, including those that saw the artist getting into a car outside the mall.

Internet users have also posted candid comments, saying the artist was either getting a spanking new pair of spectacles or getting her hair done at the mall, as Sungai Wang Plaza was known for such products and services at a bargain.

“Out of so many malls, Billie chose Sungai Wang Plaza,” said one of the commenters.

They also commended her for adhering to the standard operating procedure of wearing a face mask inside the mall.

According to Sungai Wang Plaza’s official TikTok account, it said the artist was there to experience go-kart at Blastacars Malaysia.

Also with her were her brother, Finneas and other friends.

Eilish is in Malaysia for her Happier Than Ever, The World Tour at the National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur at 8.30pm on Thursday (Aug 18).

The 20-year-old is known for her hits such as Bad Guy, Happier Than Ever and the theme to James Bond’s No Time To Die.

In 2020, Eilish became the youngest artiste (at 18) to win the top accolades at the Grammys including Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year (for Bad Guy) and Album Of The Year (for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?).

Apart from Kuala Lumpur, Eilish will also stop in Asian cities such as Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, Seoul and Tokyo.
