GE15: Aminuddin to contest PD parliamentary seat

SEREMBAN: As widely expected, Negri Sembilan PKR chief Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun (pic) will replace incumbent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest the Port Dickson parliamentary seat.

The PKR president, who will be contesting the Tambun seat in Perak in the Nov 19 polls, made the announcement at a party event here Friday night (Oct 21).

Aminuddin, who is also PKR vice-president, is serving his third term as Sikamat assemblyman.

The Star had reported that Aminuddin was touted to replace Anwar in Port Dickson.

Aminuddin, who is also Mentri Besar, had moved his party membership from Tampin to Port Dickson earlier this year.

In the 2018 by-election, Anwar won the seat with a whopping 23,560-vote majority in a multi-cornered fight, surpassing the 17,710-vote majority obtained by the previous MP Datuk Danyal Balagopal in GE14.

PKR had also won the seat in the 2008 and 2013 polls.
