GE15: Consider long-terms interests of BN, Umno in forming coalitions, says Najib

PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional should consider the long-term interests of Umno and the coalition if it needs to negotiate with any coalition to resolve the issue of a hung Parliament, says Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Najib’s message was shared by his daughter, Nooryana Najwa Najib, on her Facebook page on Sunday (Nov 20) after a family meeting following the results of the 15th General Elections.

“This negotiation needs to set aside differences of sentiment and needs to take into account the opinions of all Barisan MPs who were successful in GE15.

“Najib also wanted to convey that he really misses his friends in Barisan. He also affirmed his hope and belief that Umno and Barisan are sacred parties that will surely rise again.

“May God always bless our struggle,” she signed off on her Facebook page, relaying her father’s advice.

Earlier, Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denied any talks with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) on forming a pact with the Sarawak-based coalition together with Perikatan Nasional to form the next Federal Government.
