KOTA BARU: I have never given my blessings to any of my children to contest in any election except under a PAS ticket, says former PAS leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat’s wife.

Tuan Sabariah Tuan Ishak, in statement posted on PAS’ official Facebook page, said both Nik Abdul Aziz and her had taught their children to always fight for Islam together with the Islamist party.

“Al-Marhum Tuan Guru and I have taught our children from a young age to remain “Istiqamah” to fight for Islam with PAS,” she said.

Last month, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is PKR president and Pakatan Harapan’s prime ministerial candidate, announced that PKR will be fielding Nik Omar, Nik Aziz’s eldest son, in Pasir Salak, Perak, under PKR’s ticket.

Nik Omar’s willingness to contest under PKR’s ticket was reported to have angered some family members.

His cousin, Ahmad Dusuki Abdul Rani, when contacted by The Star, said the eldest son of the late PAS leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat has tainted the family’s name.

Nik Omar had said his GE15 participation under the Pakatan Harapan banner was a way to fulfil his late father’s dream to see Anwar as the premier, adding that Nik Aziz had always voiced such a hope before his death in 2015.
