JOHOR BARU: Several parliamentary seats are important for Pakatan Harapan to win in Johor in the 15th General Election (GE15), says Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

“We have to defend Pasir Gudang, Tebrau, Johor Baru, Pulai, Iskandar Puteri, and win Pengerang and Tanjung Piai. If we win those seats, then we can win other seats and GE15,” said the Parti Amanah Negara deputy president.

He also said that GE15 was a “do-or-die” mission that would decide Malaysia’s future.

The Johor Pakatan Harapan chairman also claimed he was offered a ministerial post if he switched sides during the Sheraton Move.

“Me and many others were offered a ministerial post but we said no way. There is no way that we can betray the votes and trust given to us, which shows that we love you all,” said Salahuddin, who is a former agriculture and agro-based industry minister.

Salahuddin said this in his speech at Taman Gaya here on Sunday (Nov 6) night.

He added that this was their promise made to the voters during the last national polls held in 2018.

“We never run away as we are not frogs and I thanked Allah that I am still with the rakyat together with the same team that will be contesting in the 15th General Election,” he said.

Salahuddin will be defending his Pulai seat against Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Nur Jazlan and Perikatan Nasional’s Loh Kah Yong.

The Sheraton Move in February 2020 saw the defection of several Members of Parliament from Pakatan – causing the collapse of the Federal Government.
