GE15: Special task force will be set up to resolve land grants in Kulai Chinese villages, says Johor MB

KULAI: A special task force will be set up to resolve the issue pertaining to land grants in Kulai Chinese villages, says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Onn Hafiz said the state government is committed to solve the problem and has given his assurance to the people involved.

“This is a legacy issue where the people in the Chinese villages were unable to get the grant for the lands for many years.

“We are committed to solving this problem and it will be done in phases,” he said after a meet and greet with Kulai non-governmental organisations (NGO) and the Chinese community here.

Earlier in his speech, Onn Hafiz told the crowd that the issue has been going on for about three decades.

“If you trust me and my team, we will do our best to solve the issue that has been around for the past 30 years.

“Give me a chance to solve it. This is a problem that did not start from me but something that my administration has inherited, but if we work together, we will be able to solve it,” he said.

Also present was MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Barisan Nasional candidate for the Kulai seat to Chua Jian Boon and state housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor.
