Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) has announced that additional Electric Train Service (ETS) will be made available to consumers in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. At the same time, it also introduced a special train service for the occasion, known as Ekspres Khas Keluarga Malaysia, which will cover the east coast locations of Malaysia.

The national rail operator says that a total of 4,368 and 516 tickets have been prepared for the additional ETS and special train service respectively. It added that this initiative, which is a collaboration between KTMB and the ministry of transportation, aims to accommodate the high demand from consumers, especially those who are planning to travel back to their hometowns for the upcoming festive season.

Throughout 29 April to 2 May and 6 May to 8 May, KTMB will provide two additional ETS trains for travel from KL to Padang Besar and vice versa. Meanwhile, the Ekspres Khas Keluarga Malaysia train is set to depart from KL Sentral at 11pm on 29 April and will stop at 17 stations including Bandar Tasik Selatan, Kajang, Nilai, Seremban, Pulau Sebang, Mentakab, Jerantut, Gua Musang, Pasir Mas, and Tumpat. Its return trip from Tumpat Station to KL Sentral, on the other hand, is slated to depart on 7 May at 10:50pm.

KTMB adds that the special express train will be equipped with coaches with different facilities, such as for sleeping, premier and superior class seating, buffet, and so on. Fares are set to start from RM55 to RM83 for a one-way trip, and those who pre-book are also entitled to receive a complimentary gift from the service.

Ticket sales for both services will begin tomorrow on 15 April 2022. For further inquiries, customers can reach out to KTMB’s call centre at 03-2267 1200 or visit its official social media channels.
