Motorola has just launched its new lineup featuring the S30 Pro, X30 Pro, and this year’s Razr 2022 foldable. The S30 Pro is the mildest of the bunch, but it still packs plenty of impressive specs and and a low price tag to boot, though the brand did make some noticeable compromises.

For the curved display, the S30 Pro uses a 10-bit 6.55-inch pOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and a punch hole cutout positioned in the middle. The phone is equipped with stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos and it ships with MYUI 4.0 based on Android 12.

Powering the device is last year’s flagship chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 888 Plus, which is paired with between 8GB to 12GB of RAM and can be configured with either 256GB or 512GB of storage. For its connectivity, it supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC, but it lacks a headphone jack.

The Motorola S30 Pro features a triple-camera setup made up of a 50MP main shooter with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide with a 123-degree angle auto-focus for the macro mode, and a 2MP depth sensor. For the selfie camera, the phone uses a 32MP 1/2.8″ sensor with auto-focus.

As for the battery life, the lower-end flagship from Motorola runs a 4,400mAh battery with a charging speed of 68W. According to the brand, the S30 Pro is able to charge from empty to 50% in just 10 minutes. Disappointingly, the phone lacks support for wireless charging but it is understandable that the brand had to cut some corners to achieve the price.

The Motorola S30 Pro comes in two options: a black glass backplate or blue leather. The device carries a price tag of CNY2,199 (~RM1450) for the base 8GB+128GB model, CNY2,699 (~RM1,779) for 12GB+256GB and CNY2,899 (~RM1,912) for the top-shelf 12GB+512GB variant. The brand did not announce local pricing or availability details.
