Myanmar man stabs girlfriend to death at apartment in Penang

GEORGE TOWN: A woman from Myanmar was killed by her boyfriend at an apartment in Taman Kilangin near Jalan Sungai here on Thursday (Sept 29).

George Town deputy OCPD Supt V. Saravanan said the body of the 30-year-old woman was found at the eighth floor balcony in a pool of blood, while her boyfriend, a Myanmar national in his 30s, was found dead at the car park on the ground floor.

Supt Saravanan said investigations revealed that the female victim was with her 23-year-old friend and they were on their way back to the apartment after work when the incident happened at around 8pm.

“According to the friend, the man suddenly hugged the victim from behind and cupped her mouth before stabbing the victim in the stomach several times with a knife,” he said in a statement.

Supt Saravanan said the witness tried to save the victim but was prevented by the man.

He added that police are investigating the cause of the incident.
