PKR announces its candidates for GE15

KUALA LMPUR: It is a showdown between two former close allies as PKR pits its Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari against the former state number one Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

Amirudin was seen as a protege of Azmin previously.

The announcement was made during a PKR event in Ampang on Friday (Oct 28) night.

Meanwhile, party deputy president Rafizi Ramli will contest in Pandan while party president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will contest in Tambun.

In Selangor, William Leong will defend his Selayang seat, Saiful Mazan will contest in Sungai Besar, and Sathia Prakash Nadarajan in Hulu Selangor.

Wong Chen will defend his Subang seat, and Rodziah Ismail will contest in Ampang, while party information chief Lee Chean Chung in Petaling Jaya.

P Prabakaran will be defending his seat in Batu, Datuk Abdullah Sani will be defending his seat in Kapar, Ramanan Ramakrishnan in Sungai Buloh and Manivannan Gobind in Kuala Langat.

Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad will defend Setiawangsa, Zahir Hasan will contest in Wangsa Maju.

Fahmi Fadzil will defend his Lembah Pantai seat and Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be contesting in Bandar Tun Razak.

Activist Dr Noraishah Mydin Abdul Aziz, a spina bifida sufferer, will contest in Putrajaya.

Youth activist Adam Adli will contest for the first time in Hang Tuah Jaya in Melaka.

In Negri Sembilan, its caretaker Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun will contest Port Dickson, Jufitri Joha will contest in Rembau, Ustaz Nor Azman in Kuala Pillah.

For Johor, former education minister Dr Maszlee Malik will defend Simpang Renggam, Hassan Karim will defend the Pasir Gudang seat, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh will defend Ledang and Akmal Nasir defending Johor Baru.

Meanwhile, R.Yuneswaran in Segamat, Dr Zaleha Mustafa will contest Sekijang, Iskandar Shah Abdul Rahman in Pagoh, Onn Abu Bakar in Batu Pahat, Zuraidah Zainab Mohd Zain in Tenggara, and Bukit Batu assemblyman Jimmy Puah will contest in Tebrau.

Mohd Sayfaul Ariffin Abdul Karim is contesting in Pontian and Rusnah Aluai in Tangga Batu.

Meanwhile, in Perak, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin will contest in Bagan Datuk, Nik Omar Nik Aziz will contest in Pasir Salak, Siti Aisyah Syed Ismail in Bagan Serai, Tan Kar Hing in Gopeng and Mohd Kamil in Padang Rengas.

In Penang, Nurul Izzah Anwar will defend her seat in Permatang Pauh, Sim Tze Tzin will defend his seat in Bayan Baru, Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik in Balik Pulau, and Fadzilna Sidek in Nibong Tebal.

In Pahang, Fuziah Salleh will defend her seat in Kuantan, Zuraidi Ismail in Indera Mahkota, Mohd Naim Zainal Abidin in Pekan, Abas Awang in Bera, Erman Shah Jaios in Rompin.

In Kedah, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will defend his seat in Kulim Bandar Baharu, Karupaiya Mutusami will defend his seat in Padang Serai, Fadzil Mohd Ali will contest in Jerlun, Aizuddin Ariffin in Kubang Pasu, Simon Ooi in Alor Setar, Zulkifly Mohamad in Pendang, Nurin Aina in Merbuk, Mohd Taufek Johari in Sungai Petani, and Dr Azman Ismail in Kuala Kedah.

In Perlis, Noor Amin Ahmad will defend his seat in Kangar, Fathin Amelina will contest in Arau.

For Kelantan, Datuk Husam Musa will contest in Pasir Mas, Norazmiza Mamat will contest in Bachok, Rahimi Muhamud in Ketereh, Asharun Uji in Gua Musang, Rosli Allani Abdull Kadir in Machang, and Supradi Mohd Tanah in Tanah Merah.

In Terengganu, Mohamad Ngah will contest in Setiu, Alias Ismail in Hulu Terengganu, Mohd Johari Mohamad in Dungun, and Hasuni Sudin in Kemaman.

Earlier in a speech, Anwar said many good leaders who contributed to the party had to be left out.

“We can’t maintained the same people because we want reform,” he added.

Anwar added that another three seats will only finalised by Saturday (Oct 29) and that a briefing with the candidates would be held at 9am on that day.

Rafizi said the list of candidates was announced early to give them more time to campaign.

“You have only tonight to sleep with a smile on your face.

“Tomorrow, you need to visit the ground at once.

“We announced the list of candidates a week earlier than other parties so that they will have more time to go on the ground and approach the people,” Rafizi said, adding that PKR will kick start its large scale campaigning starting from Saturday.

Rafizi also praised Anwar for taking the risk to contest in Tambun.

Rafizi said they have analysed the seat and location, adding that Anwar was leading in terms of support in Tambun.
