A handful of alleged Samsung Galaxy S23 promotional images have recently surfaced online thanks to WinFuture journalist Roland Quandt and web publication GSMArena. But unlike the typical promos that showcase the series (which itself have already been extensively leaked ahead of its upcoming launch), these place a major emphasis on the processor that’ll be featured on all three devices, which is revealed to be known as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy.

As you may recall, a prior rumour has suggested that Samsung has struck a deal with chipmaker Qualcomm to develop an exclusive and customised version of the latter’s current generation flagship processor for the Galaxy S23 line-up. These promotional images corroborate the past leak, though their legitimacy is still unconfirmed for now.

The materials also revealed a new branding for the supposed chip, which is simply the existing Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 logo that’s slapped onto a grey box with “for Galaxy” written below. It’s not the most imaginative of designs, but it still got its message delivered across. This particular branding is shown to be used in promos highlighting the phones performance, especially for gaming.

Apart from a vague “8GB” print on one of the images, none of the materials provided any extensive information regarding the chip. However, based on a supposed documentation seen by 9to5Google, it is suggested that the Galaxy S23 series exclusive Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy will feature a higher clock speed of 3.36 GHz, which is a tad higher than the 3.2 GHz output of the standard version. In addition, it is also said to have four Performance cores clocked at up to 2.8 GHZ, and three Efficiency cores that go up to 2 Ghz.

Despite its boost in performance, the customised chip is believed to come with the same feature set as the vanilla variant, but with optimisations specific to the Galaxy S23 series. Interestingly, the publication also reports that the processor is manufactured by Samsung’s own foundry instead of TSMC.

As usual, we’ll only find out whether all of the leaks concerning the Galaxy S23 series are accurate or not when the line-up officially launches. In fact, the Samsung Unpacked event where the brand is expected to fully unveil the new phones will be happening this Wednesday on 1 February 2023.
