Queen officiates at rebranding of KLGCC

KUALA LUMPUR: Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah officiated at the rebranding ceremony of Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) on Thursday (June 16).

The golf club’s named was changed to Tournament Players Club (TPC) Kuala Lumpur on Aug 24, 2016, but changed back to its original name (KLGCC) on Nov 1, 2021.

The Queen was welcomed upon arrival at KLGCC at 3.10pm by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim, Sime Darby Property Bhd chairman Rizal Rickman Ramli and Sime Darby Property group managing director Datuk Azmir Merican.

Azmir, in his speech said that Sime Darby Property took a bold step last year to rebrand the name of the club in an effort to further enhance KLGCC’s status as one of Malaysia’s premier golf destinations, as well as to create a fresh synergy between the club’s brand identity and overall KLGCC Resort Township development.

“From TPC Kuala Lumpur, it’s back to its instantly recognisable name, KLGCC, and I am sure that many would agree that the KLGCC name evokes sentimental memories that reflect the club’s strength and heritage,” he said.

Azmir also said that the club has been working towards enhancing its current features and introducing new services that would enhance the members and patrons’ overall experience.

He noted that KLGCC also focused on expanding its food and beverage offerings, bringing in renowned restaurants which offer Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Indian cuisines.

“With the club at the centre of the KLGCC Resort Township, the resort will offer an exclusive lifestyle that encompasses high-end developments and prestigious properties such as East Residence, Senada Residence, Jendela Residence and Sime Darby Convention Centre,” he said.

He hoped the KLGCC Resort would grow into one of Kuala Lumpur’s most pristine developments, offering world-class facilities and services, coupled with an impeccable sense of community lifestyle. – Bernama
