Semenyih Water Treatment Plant resumes operation after being shut down for several hours

PETALING JAYA: The Semenyih Water Treatment Plant which was shut down temporarily at 7pm due to an odour pollution incident has resumed operation.

The shutdown, which occurred due to an odour pollution incident at the Jenderam Hilir Raw Water Pump Station intake, had sparked fears that Klang Valley may face yet another water cut during the year-end holiday period.

However Selangor Mentri Besar tweeted that the plant had resumed operations after the raw water was tested and registered 0 ton (threshold odour number) several times at 11pm.

He added that the closure which lasted four hours meant that the disruption was minimal.
