Sony today has introduced two new over-ear headphones, which are confirmed coming to the Malaysian market by early next month. These consist of the high-end WH-CH720N model and the entry-level WH-CH520; both featuring the brand‘s Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology and long battery life, while the former is the only model to come with active noise cancelling (ANC) capabilities.

Though featuring different designs, the duo are touted by Sony to be lightweight and comfortable, allowing them to be used for hours upon end. Both feature tiltable earcups for better conformity, which are also swivelable for ease of storage. In terms of colour selection, the high-end headphones is offered in black, blue and white options, while the entry-level model is available in black, blue, cream and white.

The new Sony WH-CH720N is equipped with dynamic 30 mm drivers, supported by the brand’s Integrated Processor V1 and DSEE technology. In tandem, these are claimed to allow the headphones to produce natural vocals, clear sound and balanced tuning. It also comes with 360 Reality Audio spatial capabilities and Dolby Atmos enhancements, enabling for an immersive listening experience when tuning in to music, enjoying movies, or gaming.

Additionally, the headphones feature four microphones for hands-free calls and to power its built-in ANC capabilities. Speaking of which, the WH-CH720N’s noise cancelling utilises Sony’s Dual Noise Sensor technology to completely filter out ambient sound, while its Wind Noise Reduction Structure that’s featured on its microphones allows you to make crystal clear calls without any external interference. For controls, featured on the device are buttons at the bottom of the right earcup.

Besides that, there’s also Multipoint connectivity, as well as Swift pair and Fast pair compatibility, and Google and Alexa support. Users can use the headphones with a compatible device via an included cable when not using its Bluetooth 5.3 connection. Battery-wise, Sony says the WH-CH720N is capable of lasting up to 35 hours, while a full charge would only take around three and a half hours via USB-C.

Next up is the entry-level WH-CH520, which also features 30 mm drivers and DSEE enhancements. While it lacks any ANC capabilities, the headphones do come with noise suppression technology to reduce ambient noise during calls. And like the high-end model, controls for playback and so on are handled by physical buttons that are located at the bottom of its right earcup.

Connectivity-wise, the entry-level headphones rely on Bluetooth 5.2 to power its Multipoint, Swift pair and Fast pair features. Unfortunately, it does not come with an audio jack, so wired-based connections are out of the question. What the WH-CH520 lacks in features is made up with its mammoth battery capacity, which allows it to last up to 50 days on a single charge. For charging, a full top-up is said to take around three hours via USB-C.
