PETALING JAYA: The suspect involved in the murder of a Palestinian lecturer in 2018 has confirmed the involvement of Mossad intelligence officers, says the Palestine Interior and National Security Ministry.

Its spokesman Iyad Albizm also said Palestinian authorities are currently probing the 2018 murder case of Dr Fadi Al-Batsh in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

“Confessions of one person in custody noted that the assassination of Dr Fadi was carried out at the instruction of Israeli’s national intelligence agency Mossad.

“Investigations into the case are still ongoing,” said Iyad in a brief statement on Sunday (Jan 9).

The suspect was believed to be arrested in Gaza over the weekend after Cinta Gaza Malaysia (CGM) chief executive officer Mughammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman confirmed the matter in a Facebook post on Sunday morning.

It is learned that Dr Fadi, who was 35, did his doctorate in engineering at Universiti Malaya before taking up the post of lecturer at a private university.

He was living with his wife and three children at a condominium near where he was shot.

He was killed when walking to a nearby surau for dawn prayers.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad chief Khaled al-Batash had said two suspects on a motorcycle who fired the close-range shots were believed to be Mossad agents.
