Technics has recently launched two new true wireless earbuds, namely the flagship EAH-AZ80 and the mid-range EAH-AZ60M2. Both of which are successors to its prior entries, the EAH-AZ60 and EAH-AZ40, which launched in Malaysia back in September 2021.

Of course, the two-year delay between launches has given enough time for Panasonic-owned audio brand to work on plenty of improvements to its TWS line up. However, it appears that the upgrades are mostly in the hardware department, as the two devices pretty much share the same “concha fit” design as their predecessors. On that note, while their looks are nothing to write home about, both products are still very low-profile but premium in presentation.

Starting with the flagship EAH-AZ80, included are Technics’ new 10mm drivers,  free-edge aluminium diaphragms, an acoustic control chamber and an onboard harmoniser, which promises detailed rich sound with natural mid-range and powerful bass as well as less distortion. As with its predecessors, featured on either side are touch sensors for playback, volume and other controls. You’d also be glad to know that the earbuds have a water resistance rating of IPX4.

Also onboard is Technics’ Dual Hybrid active noise cancelling (ANC) tech that helps filter out external noise by using the equipped feedforward and feedback mics. Additionally, the latter are also used to power the buds’ JustMyVoice technology which isolates your voice from background noise during calls. Besides that, you’ll find support for both Bluetooth 5.3 and LDAC which allows for hi-res audio streaming, as well as three-point connectivity.

Battery-wise, the EAH-AZ80 is claimed to last up to seven hours with ANC on a full charge, with up to a total of 24 hours when used together with its accompanying charging case. Technics says a full charge will take approximately 2.5 hours for both the buds and case, while it’s also worth noting that the latter does come with Qi wireless charging capability.

Next up is the EAH-AZ60M2, which is actually an updated version of the 2021 model but now with new technologies that are also featured on the EAH-AZ80. In fact, most of its specifications are quite similar to the flagship model mentioned above, especially in terms of ANC, interactivity, features and battery life. What’s different on the mid-range earbuds is its smaller 8mm drivers that’s inherited from the original EAH-AZ60, and the lack of wireless charging capability.

Both products are already listed on Technics Malaysia’s official website, though their dates of availability are still not known yet as both devices have yet to appear on the brand’s official Shopee and Lazada online stores. Nevertheless, the EAH-AZ80 (available in Black and Silver) is slated to retail for RM1,599 while the EAH-AZ60M2 (available in Midnight Blue, Black, and Silver) is priced at RM1,299.
