It appears that Xiaomi’s subsidiary brand Redmi will introduce its own tablet soon. This was confirmed accidentally by its parent company itself, which uploaded a photo of the product on the Xiaomi Kuwait Instagram account. Though the name of the device is still not known, it is speculated that it would be called the Redmi Pad.

The image, which has now been deleted, shows a large sized tablet featuring a flat surrounding frame and lone camera setup on its back. Rumours available prior to this suggests that the Remi Pad will be offered in Mint Green (as shown in the leaked photo), Graphite Grey, and Moonlight Silver.

In terms of specifications, the unofficial sources say that the upcoming tablet will feature an 11.2-inch LCD display with 2K resolution and may also come with quad speakers. Meanwhile, under its hood is believed to be a MediaTek MT8781 mid-range chipset which may be a variant of the chip maker’s Helio G99 processor. Along with it is said to be either 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. In terms of connectivity, rumour has it that Redmi is offering the Pad in two variants: a Wi-Fi only model and a Wi-Fi + 4G LTE version.

Besides that, it may also come with the MIUI Pad 13 platform which is based on Android 12, and a decently sized 7,800 mAh battery with 22.5 W fast charging support. On the imaging front, tipsters say that the tablet’s single camera on its back comes with an 8MP sensor. There’s no information regarding its front-facing camera, however, but it’s pretty safe to assume that the device does come with one.

As to when we’ll be seeing the new tablet, recent reports suggest that Xiaomi is expected to officially launch the Redmi Pad sometime in October. Given that the supposedly upcoming product will be released under Xiaomi’s budget-friendly subsidiary and within the mid-range tier, it’s quite likely that it may sport an affordable price tag.
